Questions
How much smaller will my files be?
Usually 25-35% at the same visible quality, and sometimes more for large photographs. The result panel shows the actual saving for each file rather than a claim.
Will the photo look worse?
Not noticeably at quality 80 or above. Below about 60 you will start to see softening in fine detail and smooth gradients like skies.
Why did my photo come out rotated correctly when other converters get it wrong?
Because the EXIF orientation tag is applied before conversion. Phone cameras store the pixels unrotated and record which way up the photo goes in a tag; tools that ignore the tag produce sideways images.
Is the EXIF data kept?
No. Camera model, settings, timestamps and any GPS location are dropped. If you need them preserved, this is not the right tool.
