    Settings

The old binary .doc and .rtf formats need LibreOffice on the server. If it is not installed, re-save your file as .docx first.

    Questions

Why does my formatting look slightly different?

It depends on the engine this server has. With LibreOffice installed the result is very close to Word's own export. Without it, the document is rebuilt from its content: headings, bold and italic, lists, tables and images all survive, but page furniture such as headers, footers, footnotes and text boxes can shift or drop. The tool page tells you which engine is in use.

Can I convert a .doc file?

Yes, if the server has LibreOffice — the tool page will say so. The legacy .doc format is a binary Microsoft format that pure PHP cannot read, so without LibreOffice you need to re-save it as .docx first.

Is the text still selectable in the PDF?

Yes. Text is written as real text, not as a picture, so it stays selectable, searchable and accessible.

    Are password-protected documents supported?

No. An encrypted document cannot be opened without its password, and the toolkit never asks for one. Remove the protection in Word first.
